Bitcoin Addicted File Snatchers Crash BitTorrent’s Copytheft Party

The BitTorrent copytheft party has been gaining steam in recent months with home-run hits such as Popcorntime. These new file-sharing applications make it easier than ever for ordinary folks to freely steal popular movie and music content.

But freebie hour might be drawing to a close as a new application surfaces from the depths of Bitcoin’s Deepweb. JoyStream is a new BitTorrent client that claims to have faster speeds and faster seeding, thanks to its ingenious partnership with Bitcoin.

The software’s developer Bedeho Mender explains:

JoyStream is just an open version of that very same insight, except that you now are not forced to seed to maintain your ratio, something which is not practical for everyone. The key is therefore not money, the key is incentives to supply enough bandwidth. Money is just one of many means to try to achieve this, just like we do with other goods.

The idea behind JoyStream is simple. If you have spare bandwidth and content that bitcoiners want, you can charge them access to that content through the JoyStream.

The more common that content, the less likely it is that you’ll be able to charge a premium price since the content will most likely already be heavily seeded. But rare material and hard-to-find porn, on the other hand, might be enough to entice a crypto junky to blow his load of bitcoin.

So soon, when Bitcoin users take a break between their drug trades and wild-eyed gambling splurges, they’ll be able to order a bitcoin show to watch as they trip on the crypto goodies just delivered by USPS in a perfectly camouflaged package.
